Active Lightning Rods
Active lightning protection systems, also known as ESE systems (Early Streamer Emission air terminals), are used in more than 80 countries worldwide. The Prevectron 3 system operates completely independently and does not require any external power supply.
The system is charged by lower electrodes using the surrounding electric field (during an approaching storm, this can reach thousands of volts per meter). This means that the PREVECTRON® 3 system operates fully independently without any external power source.
During dynamic analysis of the surrounding electric field, the PREVECTRON® 3 system monitors descending leader discharges. The patented OptiMax® technology is then activated to neutralize spatial discharges occurring naturally near the air terminal, ensuring optimal operating conditions.
Just before the lightning strike, the electric field charge increases rapidly and a descending leader discharge propagates from the cloud to the ground. This triggers an ionization process between the upper electrodes and the air terminal tip. PREVECTRON® 3 reacts precisely at the critical moment.
The controlled ionization process and OptiMax® technology ensure the initiation of an upward leader before the lightning penetrates the protected area. PREVECTRON® 3 safely captures the lightning strike and provides maximum protection for the structure.
